Manca poco più di un mese ad uno degli eventi musicali più importanti dell'anno, gli MTV Video Music Awards 2016, che andranno in onda il 28 Agosto da New York. Oggi sono state rese note le nomination ufficiali e subito si capisce cosa dovremmo aspettarci: Hello vs. Formation, Adele vs. Beyoncé, Regno Unito vs. America!
Come prevedibile quest'anno a far da padrone sono stati i best seller di Bee e Adele, oltre a Drake e Rihanna, ma anche Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber e Sia. La moda degli ultimi tempi, di creare dei mini film per gli album ha portato alla creazione di una nuova categoria, dove vediamo in lizza i visual project degli ultimi mesi, da Beyoncé a Justin Bieber passando per Florence and The Machine. Proprio il visual album di Bey, Lemonade, è quello da cui sono stati nominati più singoli, oltre a Formation anche Sorry, Freedom e Hold Up. Quasi scontata dunque la presenza della Knowles alla serata.
Grandi assenti Selena Gomez, snobbata nonostante video e singoli di successo, ma anche Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift con gli ultimi singoli ed Iggy Azalea, mentre possiamo rallegrarci per la presenza di un po' di Italia: Alessia Cara, italo-canadese, ha ottenuto una nomination per una categoria importante come Best Pop Video.
