A fare da padroni della scena quest'anno troviamo la cantante country Taylor Swift che con la svolta più pop del suo ultimo album Red ha ottenuto numeri grandissimi. Proprio come Taylor anche i Maroon 5 e i fun. hanno ottenuto 11 nomination.
Li segue stretta stretta Rihanna a quota 10 forte dell'ultimo record appena ottenuto grazie a Stay che è la sua decima canzone a raggiungere il titolo di canzone più passata in radio.
La cerimonia di premiazione avrà luogo il 19 Maggio a Las Vegas e sarà presentata da Tracy Morgan. In passato i Billboard sono stati luogo di performance straordinarie come quella di Beyoncè in Run The World ed altre di più basso livello come S&M di Rihanna e Britney Spears. Data l'importanza della serata sono già tanti gli artisti che hanno prenotato la propria esibizione live, tra cui sono già confermati Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars e Justin Bieber.Durante la serata sarà inoltre assegnato l' ICONIC AWARD a Prince, che delizierà il pubblico con una performance live. Il premio era già stato assegnato a Beyoncè. Tutti nomi di spicco dell'industria musicale degli ultimi anni.
